How to Get Rid of Oily Smelly Hair

This is for deep hair cleansing.

Have you ever had hair that smells like oil or just not very nice? Do you notice that you get more oily hair or smelly hair during windy days or on hotter days? Or perhaps you just don’t wash your hair frequent enough. Anyway, then this post is for you.

So, I really love summer but I do notice that my hair would get more oily due to perspiration and my hair trapping more dust (your pores open up due to heat).

Even though this works, please do not use it everytime you wash your hair. Nothing is good when in excess.

How I Use it:
I usually use sulfate-free + paraben-free shampoo and conditioner, this helps keep my oily hair at bay, it also decreases the smell of oily hair. However, sometimes the weather just doesn’t wanna be your friend so I get over oily hair. So, once a month, I would pop 1-2 drops of tea tree oil and mix it into my shampoo. I make sure it is diluted first before I use it (do not use full concentration please). Then simply just wash your hair as you usually do.

Note: It doesn’t matter what kind of tea tree oil you use, I bought desert essence because it was at my local organic store. Also, make sure it is 100% tea tree oil.

After I finish washing I would feel very clean, oil-free. If you rub your hands on your scalp after two days of not washing your hair, you can smell a bit of oil. However, if you use this method you will NOT smell any oil even after 2 days! I have not tried 3 days lol….

I think I’ve heard from somewhere that tea tree oil also helps with any hair pimple or bumps, but I don’t have any hair bumps or pimple, so I cannot confirm it.

Oh right, you can still use your regular hair oil after washing (morrocan, argan, or whatever you use).
